Shantou, one of the Special Economic Zones and famous overseas Chinese
home towns, is located on the eastern coast of Guangdong Province.
With One orientation against the Chaoshan plain- the second largest
plains of Guangdong, and the Tropic of Cancer intersecting. Shantou
prefectures to South China Sea, borders Fujian to the north and
faces Taiwan. Shantou is in an advantageous position,the climate
here is temperate, warm without bitter cold days in winter, and
cool without hot day in summer the average temperature within a
year is 21.3'C.
Shantou offers a lot of scenic spots including Queshe which is
known as the most attractive park in South China; The Mayu island,
Zhongshan park, Qing Yun Crags in Dahao, Lotus Flower Peak in Chaoyang,
Lingshan Monastery, Laiwu lslet and the Buddhism Pagoda Mountain
in Chenhai are famous at home and abroad; The Qingao Bay in Nanao
has won the fame of "Hawaii in the East". Neighbouring
to Shantou city, there is also a national historical and cultural
city-Chaozhou.
