Hairui Tomb
Hairui(1514-1857), a royal official who had paid years of outstanding services in the Ming Dynasty court, was born in Qiongshan County of Hainan. He was buried in 1859 A. D. at Binya Village in the suburb of Haikou. Because he is a man of uttermost integrity and righteousness, the Ming court specially sent officials to supervise the construction of the tomb. As the work was nearing its end, the ropes used to carry the coffin suddenly broke and dropped the body on the ground. People began to regard this as an omen that it is by will of god that Hairui should be buried exactly where the ropes broke and the body dropped.

Hairui Tomb is currently the province's preserved historic site. The circular tomb has a diameter of 63 inches and height of 102 inches. A stone archway stands at the entrance, on which are engraved Chinese characters.
